North Korea successfully reconnects to internet after hours of disruption
North Korean websites were reconnected to the global internet on December 23, after hours of disruption.

According to AP, the disruption of North Korean websites came after the US pledged to respond to the cyber attack on Sony Pictures that the US accused North Korea of carrying out.
However, both the White House and the Pentagon have denied that the US government is responsible for North Korea's internet being unable to connect to the world.

Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) quoted the country's officials as saying that the Rodong Sinmun newspaper operated normally on December 23 after hours of being inaccessible.
Rodong Sinmun is one of North Korea's official news channels with servers located abroad.
Earlier, US computer experts said that North Korea had suffered a prolonged internet outage and all of the country's websites were inaccessible.
Earlier, on December 19, US President Barack Obama announced a strong response to the cyber attack on Sony Pictures. The US President accused this of “a serious cyber sabotage” carried out by North Korea.
