The ceremony was held solemnly just days after the country executed Mr. Jang Song-Thaek, former vice chairman of the National Defense Commission, who was once considered the number 2 person in North Korea.

The ceremony began with a speech by state council chairman Kim Yong-Nam.

“Two years have passed since the great leader Kim Jong-Il suddenly left us,” Kim Yong-Nam read with emotion.

“The entire army and people have fought with all their might over the past two years, achieving important victories to pay tribute to the great leader.”./.
