There are plans to completely destroy the entrance to the test site and the facilities surrounding the nuclear test site. All scientists and security personnel will be evacuated from the area.
According to news from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), journalists from South Korea, China, the US, UK and Russia will be present at the event.
Nuclear testing has long been a stumbling block in relations between Pyongyang and its rivals. The US and its allies have pursued a policy of sanctions for years, responding to nuclear missile launches with new restrictions.
However, in late April, North Korea announced a new strategic line of abandoning further nuclear missile tests to focus entirely on developing the economy.
Pyongyang affirmed that joining international efforts for a comprehensive cessation of nuclear testing is an important part of the global nuclear disarmament process.
