South Korea is on high alert as North Korea prepares to celebrate its military's founding anniversary, with the possibility of Pyongyang conducting a nuclear test.
North Korea will officially celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Army on April 25, South Korean Unification Ministry spokesman Lee Duk-haeng said. According to many experts, Pyongyang will take this opportunity to show off its military strength.

Weeks earlier, US and South Korean officials had predicted that North Korea could soon conduct a new nuclear test.
On the Day of the Sun (April 15), the North Korean government held its most spectacular military parade ever and a failed missile test the following day to mark the 105th anniversary of the birth of late President Kim Il Sung.
The situation on the Korean peninsula escalated after the US deployed the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier near the peninsula amid concerns that Pyongyang would conduct its sixth nuclear test.
