North Korea evacuates residents near Punggye-ri nuclear test site

(Baonghean.vn)- On April 22, the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) quoted a South Korean intelligence source as saying that on April 21, North Korea evacuated residents living near the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in North Hamkyong Province to a safe area. This move is believed to be related to Pyongyang's plan to conduct its sixth nuclear test.

The source added that recently, planes believed to be carrying North Korean scientists have been continuously arriving at an airport near the Punggye-ri nuclear test site.

The Punggye-ri nuclear test site is where North Korea has conducted five nuclear tests since 2006. South Korean and US intelligence agencies have warned that Pyongyang is likely to conduct a sixth nuclear test there at any time, under the orders of leader Kim Jong-un, especially on the occasion of the country's 85th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Army on April 25.

However, the South Korean and US militaries do not rule out the possibility that Pyongyang's above moves are just a tactic to cause chaos in Seoul and Washington./.
