(Baonghean.vn) -Recently, Vinh city announced the city expansion plan to 2030, with a vision to 2050 according to Decision No. 52/QD-TTg dated January 14, 2015 of the Prime Minister.According to the plan, Vinh City (Nghe An) will expand to the East and South with more than 16/30 communes of Nghi Loc belonging to Vinh City, including Quan Hanh town.

Regarding the previously approved urban planning of Nghi Loc, the District Party Committee has directed the District People's Committee to establish and submit the planning. In which, the new administrative center of Nghi Loc district is expected to be Cho Thuong Town in Nghi My commune.

Nghi My is a semi-mountainous commune, located in the west, 11 km from the district center, with a natural area of ​​1,057 hectares with 1,199 households and 4,676 people distributed in 13 hamlets. In recent years, Nghi My has had many improvements, the commune has transformed production models, applied science and technology to bring plant and animal breeds into production.

Mr. Hoang Duc Tri - Chairman of Nghi My Commune People's Committee said: Nghi My was chosen as the center of Nghi Loc district because the area has a convenient transportation system, including provincial road 534 passing through Yen Thanh and Do Luong districts to the gateway to the western region of Nghe An, and road 535 going to Hung Nguyen district.

Nghi My also actively pays attention to investment attraction conditions and promotes the development of secondary industries. Currently, there are 4 enterprises and 214 households engaged in commercial services. The average income of workers reaches 28.3 million VND/person/year, the poverty rate has decreased to 4.7%. Up to now, Nghi My has invested over 150 billion VND in infrastructure, basically completing the electricity - road - school - station system.

Thuong Market has over 100 kiosks with a variety of goods to serve consumers, planned to become the center of Nghi Loc district.

Nghi My will benefit from the establishment of a district capital, with closed investment in infrastructure. The commune has the conditions to transform its economic development structure such as promoting the development of commercial services on traffic routes. Over 400 hectares of agriculture can be converted to growing valuable vegetables to serve the needs of the new district capital. The hilly area is planned to develop integrated farms, especially focusing on developing pig and cattle farming to meet the needs of the new urban area.

Ms. Phuong Hai, a construction materials business owner in the Thuong market area, said:

"We are very excited about the establishment of the new district center because it has the conditions to expand and develop the construction materials trading sector, and open more general trading agencies to supply goods to the western communes of Nghi Loc."

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lam in hamlet 3 said:

"Hearing the news of the establishment of a new district capital in Nghi My, we are very excited, certainly our hometown will be built more prosperous and beautiful. Although we are farmers, we will have conditions to develop the economy more, such as our children will be given jobs in industrial parks, farmers will develop agricultural products and raise livestock to serve the needs of urban areas."

From now to 2020, in addition to investing in developing socio-economic infrastructure and building Quan Hanh town - a type V urban area, the district plans to establish Cau Cam town, Mai Trang town and a system of towns such as Cho Son, University area, Nghi Van, Nghi Lam, Nghi Cong, Nghi Van, Nghi Phuong.

In the coming time, when urban areas No. 3 and No. 4 of the Southeast Economic Zone are formed, it will be the basis for planning the Cau Cam town. Mai Trang town will build a type V urban town, expected to be about 90 hectares in size with the function of a regional and service town.

In the future, when the East of the district is merged into Vinh city, the West and the remaining 9 communes will become the new Nghi Loc district, which will have better conditions for socio-economic development.
