Rain can't stop Usain Bolt from winning world championship

August 12, 2013 16:46

"Lightning Bolt" continues to have no rivals in his specialty of the 100m race, winning the gold medal with a time of 9.77 seconds, at the World Athletics Championships, held in Moscow (Russia).

This victory somewhat helped the Jamaican athlete to temporarily ease the sadness of losing the title in a silly way due to a false start on the final race of this event at the 2011 world championship in Deagu (South Korea).

Despite heavy rain in Moscow, Usain Bolt still excellently finished first after 9 seconds 77, far ahead of the two runners-up, Justin Gatlin of the US (9 seconds 85) and fellow Jamaican Nestar Carter (9 seconds 95).

This is not the best time that "Lightning" has achieved in the 100m race. The world record he set in the 100m race is 9.58 seconds, at the world championship in Berlin 2009.

After the victory, Usain Bolt was delighted: "I am very happy for what I have done. I could not break the world record, but that is not too important because I am the winner."
