Unstable weather makes patients with colitis and chronic irritable bowel syndrome very likely to have "cold stomach and diarrhea" if they do not keep warm well.

When the first cold air waves come, patients with the ability to "forecast the weather" such as bone and joint diseases, colitis... can immediately feel the effects on their bodies....

“The change of weather is painful…”

Confession of Mr. Do Xuan Anh, 73 years old, living at 8 Tang Bat Ho, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi: “Every time the weather is too hot or too cold, or the weather changes, I know it right away. The proof is that my chronic colitis relapses, and I have to go to the toilet several times a day”…

Sharing the concerns of Dr. Anh, Professor Nguyen Khanh Trach, Vietnam Digestive Science Association, said that the erratic weather makes patients with colitis and chronic irritable bowel syndrome, who are already weak, even more sensitive. If they do not keep warm well, the possibility of "cold stomach and diarrhea" is very high, especially in the elderly.

“Prevention is better than cure”

When the first symptoms recur, or when there is a forecast of weather changes, patients with colitis should prepare themselves immediately. First is the mental issue. Do not worry too much because nervous tension can easily cause spasms that cause the disease to recur. At the same time, you should keep your body warm, especially the abdomen and feet. Many patients with colitis say that soaking your feet in hot water or pressing acupoints on the soles of your feet also effectively reduces the possibility of recurrence. However, the best way is to "strengthen" the colon before the disease recurs.
