Stealing church donations

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 4, the police of Quynh Luu district (Nghe An) reenacted the crime scene of the theft of donation money at several churches in Quynh Thanh commune and the theft of citizens' property against Nguyen Huu Huy (born in 1997, residing in hamlet 4, Quynh Thanh commune) to investigate and clarify the case.

Accordingly, from November to December 2013, Nguyen Huu Huy repeatedly broke into churches in Quynh Thanh commune to break into safes and steal donation money.

After grasping the situation and receiving information from some people, Quynh Luu district police started to monitor the subject. At 6:30 a.m. on February 4, 2014, discovering that Mr. Tran Van Hien's family in hamlet 1, Quynh Thanh commune was not at home, Huy sneaked into Mr. Hien's family's phone repair and sales booth to steal property. After fighting and collecting evidence at the scene, Quynh Thanh commune police and Quynh Luu district police arrested Nguyen Huu Huy to clarify the case.

At the police station of Quynh Thanh commune, Huy admitted to stealing property from Mr. Tran Van Hien's family and said that Huy stole 3 mobile phones, 10 scratch cards worth 20,000 VND, 3 phone batteries and 250,000 VND in cash. The total value of the property was nearly 3 million VND.

In addition, Huy also confessed that he had broken into 4 churches including Thanh Da, Cu Tan, Thanh Xuan and Thanh Tan in Quynh Thanh commune 9 times to steal donation money. The total amount of money Huy stole from the churches was nearly 7 million VND. To steal the donation money, Huy used a sharp iron rod 60 cm long to break the lock and poke a hole in the outside of the safe and then committed the theft.

The subject is currently being detained by the police of Quynh Luu district for handling according to the law./.
