(Baonghean.vn) - At this time, people in Con Cuong district are actively growing high-value vegetables to serve the Tet market.

Mr. Tran Khac Si, Head of Con Cuong Agriculture Department, said: Currently, people have planted 40/50 hectares of vegetables to serve the Tet market, concentrated in Chi Khe commune with 20 hectares, Bong Khe 20 hectares, and the town with 10 hectares. People mainly grow kohlrabi, cabbage, green beans, cucumbers, herbs, tomatoes, etc.

Vegetable growing areas in Con Cuong "welcome" the market during Tet.

According to estimates, the area of land for growing vegetables all year round is worth 100-110 million VND/ha. The output for vegetables is quite favorable, consumed in the domestic market and supplied to Tuong Duong and Ky Son districts. Many households boldly borrow capital to invest in infrastructure such as digging wells, purchasing pumps, hoses, and electricity lines to irrigate vegetables, increasing productivity.

To support people in developing production, in October 2016, the Provincial People's Committee supported 3 localities with over 1.5 billion VND to invest in power lines and wells for vegetable cultivation. This policy promptly encouraged vegetable growers in mountainous areas to form specialized vegetable growing areas, increasing people's income.
