Planting incense roots under the canopy of black canarium trees
(Baonghean) -Thanh Chuong District Agricultural and Fisheries Extension Station is implementing an agroforestry model of "planting aromatic roots under the canopy of black canarium trees".
Black Canarium grafted seedlings nursery of Mr. Nguyen Ba Quy's family, Thanh Lien commune, Thanh Chuong.
The model was implemented in Thanh Nho commune, with an area of 2 hectares, on the garden land of Mr. Nguyen Canh Dao's family. The black starfruit variety was supported by the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center and 50% of the fertilizer cost was supported, the remaining investment was made by the household owner. According to the design, on an area of 2 hectares, 400 black starfruit trees will be planted and planted in the form of intensive farming, after 4 years they will bear fruit. The incense root tree is easy to grow, requires little investment, does not require much care and is harvested throughout the year, providing raw materials for incense-making villages. Currently, this model is being implemented by the household owner to dig holes, prepare to receive seedlings for planting.
Thanh Chuong is a locality with many black canarium trees planted many years ago. Every year, the fruit is harvested for traders, then transported to cities for consumption, used as clean food. On average, each black canarium tree yields about 100 kg of fruit, sold for 2.5 - 3 million VND, with some trees yielding 6 - 7 million VND/year. Currently, Thanh Chuong district is implementing a project to develop black canarium trees in the area. The Department of Science and Technology has invested in building a nursery garden for grafted black canarium trees in Thanh Lien commune, in order to provide black canarium trees for people to plant.
