Planting new forests to replace hydroelectric power

According to new regulations, if there is no alternative forest planting investment plan, hydropower project investment will not be approved.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has just sent a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade stating that hydropower investment projects must allocate capital for forest planting. If they cannot manage it themselves, they must entrust it to the provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund or the Vietnam Forest Protection and Development Fund to implement it.

The amount of forest lost must be replanted. If there is no more land for forest planting in the district, the province will arrange for replacement forest planting in another district. If there is no more land for forest planting in the province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will be notified to arrange land in another province./.
