In what cases will Ukraine resume negotiations with Russia?
Kiev will resume negotiations with Moscow if Western countries order Vladimir Zelensky to start this, Turkish political scientist and former Turkish trade representative in Moscow Aydin Sezer told Sputnik.
Earlier, David Arakhamia, head of Zelensky's party "Servant of the People" in the Verkhovnaya Rada, said that hostilities in Ukraine could have ended in the spring of 2022, but the Ukrainian authorities did not agree with the country's neutrality after negotiations with the Russian side in Istanbul, when Boris Johnson, then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, called on Kiev not to sign anything with the Russian Federation.
Sezer recalled that immediately after the talks in Istanbul, Johnson visited Kiev and held talks with Zelensky.

“Based on this statement, it can be said that if the West gives Zelensky instructions, the peace process can start again,” the expert noted.
As long as Zelensky remains in power, one should not expect any particular changes on the battlefield.
“Zelensky himself does not decide whether to negotiate or not, so we should not wait for the results. Moreover, he has passed a law prohibiting negotiations with Russia. If the West orders Zelensky or someone else to become president in his place, the negotiations can continue. In Ankara or Istanbul, it does not matter so much,” Sezer noted.
According to him, Türkiye at present remains impartial and maintains an objective stance.
