Trump attacks Clinton: She is the 'puppet'

Like the second debate, Trump and Clinton did not shake hands when entering the third debate. The two candidates attacked each other when entering the debate, at times accusing each other of being "puppets" of Russia.

- Starts at 9:00 p.m. on October 19, Eastern Time in North America (8:00 a.m. on October 20, Hanoi time), at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada. Expected to last 90 minutes.

- Trump's approval rating dropped sharply after a video of him freely groping women was leaked. According to a Bloomberg survey conducted on October 14-17 with 1,006 voters, Mrs. Clinton led Mr. Trump by 9 points, with a rate of 47% compared to 38%.

- Chris Wallace, host of Fox News Sunday, is known for his aggressive questioning style and debate moderation.

Trump attacks Clinton on TPP

Trump accused Clinton of secretly supporting the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a trade deal she has said she opposes.

“When I saw the final TPP agreement, I opposed it,” Clinton replied, saying it “did not meet my standards.”

'Crocodile Tears'

"There's only one person standing on this stage who's shipping our jobs to Mexico, and that's Donald," Clinton said.

Mrs. Clinton condemned Mr. Trump for shedding only "crocodile tears" over job losses in the US, while still accepting cheap Chinese steel flooding the US market.

She said it was Chinese steel that was used to build Trump's casino.

Trump replied: "The problem is you talk but don't get anything done."

Clinton praises Obama's economic policies

"When you take on the kind of bad economy that President Obama took on, it's a very dangerous situation," Clinton said.

She said President Obama saved the US economy but he has not received the recognition he deserves. "I personally believe that the steps President Obama has taken have saved the US economy," Clinton said. "We are standing, but we cannot run."

Trump: 'Our country is dying'

Trump attacked the North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta) signed by former President Bill Clinton, Hillary's husband.

"Taxes are too high with Hillary Clinton's plan," Trump commented on his opponent's economic plan.

Trump said he would renegotiate Nafta and if he couldn't do that, he would scrap it and implement new deals.

Trump added that he plans to cut some taxes.

"We're going to get the machine going again because our country is dying," he concluded.

The bad guys

The moment Mr. Trump used the word "bad guy" to refer to immigrants was "caught" by many people on Twitter.

When answering a question about immigration, the American billionaire reiterated his support for building a wall on the US border with Mexico and said: "We have some bad people here and we're going to get rid of them."

Trump: 'I love NATO'

Trump said: "I love NATO, but they still have to pay."

Tax Argument

Clinton says Trump could cost the US three million jobs because of Trump's tax cuts for the wealthy.

Trump said he would "do massive tax cuts, corporate tax cuts and restart the engine."

'She is a puppet'

Mrs Clinton said President Vladimir Putin wanted Mr Trump to win because the Russian leader wanted the US president to be a puppet.

“You’re a puppet,” Trump responded. He said Russian President Putin “outshines” Clinton in many ways.

"Of course I condemn" Russia's cyberattacks on the United States, Mr. Trump added.

The moderator asked Clinton about her speech to a bank, in which she talked about open trade and borders.

Clinton said she was only talking about energy policy. She accused Russia of spying on American citizens, influencing the presidential election.

“Will Donald Trump finally admit this? And will he reject (Russian President) Putin?” she said.

Trump 'silent'

Clinton says Trump's plan to deport immigrants is inappropriate when applied to an entire country.

She said Mr Trump had been "silent" when he met with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto to discuss his proposed border wall.

Trump responded, claiming he had a great meeting with the Mexican president and adding that Clinton actually "wanted a wall like that" but couldn't get it done a decade ago.

The policy of dividing the country

Mrs. Clinton mentioned some of her guests attending today's debate, they are either immigrants who entered the US illegally or were born into undocumented families.

She also condemned Mr Trump's "immigrant deportation drive", saying it was unrealistic.

“It is an idea that does not unite us, it is an idea that divides our country,” she said.

The former secretary of state also said that Mr. Trump "exploited" low-paid and under-compensated workers to build his Trump Tower.

Immigrant

“Immigration is the issue that divides us the most,” the moderator said.

Referring to the four mothers whose children were murdered by illegal immigrants in the US, sitting in the hall, Trump said "we have to control the border more strongly. We have to push drugs out of the country".

“She wants open borders,” Trump accused Clinton. “We’ve got some bad people and we’ve got to get rid of them. We all want to build walls.”

Trump opposes abortion

"The government should not interfere because this is the most personal decision," Clinton said about abortion.

Trump, meanwhile, objected, stressing that Clinton may not have a problem with abortion, but he does.

Debate on abortion

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v Wade, the case that legalized abortion in the US, "it will be a state issue" and "each state will make a decision," Trump said.

Clinton said she supported women's right to make this "most difficult, most personal" decision. She referred to Trump's earlier comments that a woman should be punished for having an abortion.

Trump is proud that the National Rifle Association of America supports him

When moderator Wallace asked about his opposition to any gun control laws, billionaire Trump mentioned Chicago, saying that the city has the strictest gun control laws in the country but it also has one of the highest rates of gun violence.

Trump added that he felt proud that the National Rifle Association (NRA) supported him.

Trump attacks court judge

Trump attacked Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who once called him a "fraud" but later apologized for her unexpected comments about politics.

“The judges that I will appoint, I have named about 20, they will be against abortion and the death penalty,” he added. “They will tend to be conservative” and “they will protect the Second Amendment.”

"They will interpret the constitution the way the founders intended, and I believe that is very, very important," the New York tycoon stressed.

Second Amendment Gun Control Laws

Clinton stressed that she does not want to take away guns from everyone but wants appropriate gun control.

“I support the Second Amendment,” Clinton said. “But I believe there can and must be reasonable regulation.”

Follower count may increase again

The first presidential debate on September 26th reached a record number of viewers in US election history with 84 million people watching. However, the number for the second debate on October 9th dropped sharply, to just over 60 million people.

Observers predict that the number of people watching today's debate will increase again.

First question

The first question from moderator Chris Wallace is about the US Supreme Court. Where do you want to see the court take our country and what are your views on how the Constitution should be interpreted?

Hillary Clinton is the first to respond. The Supreme Court will raise “central issues,” Clinton said.

The Democratic candidate said the Supreme Court needs to be “on the side of the American people, not on the side of corporations and the wealthy.” She mentioned women’s rights, LGBT rights, and marriage equality.

Two presidential candidates take the stage

Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton walked onto the stage, waved to the audience and quickly returned to their podiums without shaking hands. Mrs. Clinton wore a white suit and Mr. Trump wore a dark suit and red tie, standing 15 meters away from his opponent.
