Trump, Kim Jong-un on Time's 'Person of the Year' list

Time magazine announced a list of 10 candidates for the title "Person of the Year", including the US president and the North Korean leader.

On December 4, the US magazine Time announced a list of 10 potential candidates for the title "Person of the Year", including US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

"The North Korean leader has rekindled the threat of nuclear war in the minds of Americans, repeatedly testing ballistic missiles and exchanging threats and attacks with President Trump, who calls Mr. Kim 'rocket man,'" Time magazine said.

President Trump also made the list. Time described the White House chief as "spending his first year in the Oval Office trying to dismantle Obama-era policies, from health care to immigration, environmental regulation to tax reform, while continuing to attack and stir controversy on Twitter."

President Trump was chosen as "Person of the Year" for 2016.

The rest of Time's list includes Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, former quarterback Colin Kaepernick, special prosecutor Robert Mueller, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Time included two groups on the list: "Dreamers," undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children, and the #MeToo movement, founded with the aim of raising awareness about sexual harassment.

Time began naming its "Person of the Year" in 1927. The title is given to an individual or group of people who have had a major impact on the world and the media, either positively or negatively. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Hillary Clinton have all been on the magazine's list.

The 2017 "Person of the Year" title will be announced on December 6.
