China pledges to cooperate with US on global and regional issues

This was the affirmation of Chinese President Xi Jinping in an interview with the Wall Street Journal before his high-level visit to the US from September 22-25.

According to Mr. Xi Jinping, as permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China and the United States have pledged to cooperate in solving international and regional issues.

Referring to the North Korean issue, the Chinese leader emphasized Beijing's clear and consistent stance on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, affirming that peaceful measures are the key to this issue as well as peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.

The Chinese president also once again stressed his commitment to maintaining close communication and cooperation with the US and relevant parties to appropriately respond to all issues related to the North Korea issue and the long-term stability of Northeast Asia.

Meanwhile, regarding the Iran nuclear deal, Xi Jinping stressed Beijing's commitment to working with all parties to ensure the historic document is fully implemented.

Referring to the remaining disagreements between the two countries, the Chinese President said that this is the reason for Beijing and Washington to complement each other and find the best solutions to all problems.

He stressed the view that both China and the US need to understand and respect each other, expand common issues, and properly handle disagreements, while respecting each other's concerns and core interests.

Commenting on his visit to the US, President Xi Jinping said that the upcoming meeting between him and President Barack Obama will mark the long-term relationship between China and the US.

He stressed that his first visit to the US since assuming the position of Chinese President will send a positive message to the international community that China and the US will strengthen cooperation and jointly respond to global challenges./.
