China on September 15 called on North Korea to stop preparations for rocket launches to put "a series of satellites" into space - an action that would violate UN sanctions imposed on Pyongyang, Kyodo reported.
Responding to a regular press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei emphasized that China hopes North Korea will "act cautiously and avoid moves that escalate tensions."
