China asks US to abandon annual report on Chinese military

"The US report contains irresponsible statements related to protecting China's territorial integrity and sovereignty. We strongly condemn and resolutely oppose this," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang emphasized.

According to Mr. Lu Kang, China has always adhered to the path of peaceful development and strictly adhered to its national security and defense policy. China is a peace-loving country and wishes to develop peacefully, as well as participate in protecting world order.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman affirmed that the main goal of China's military development is to protect the country's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. "These are the legitimate rights of a sovereign country, and no one can blame this."

"We would like to stress that the US should abandon its 'cold war' mindset and instead objectively and rationally approach China's strategic orientations and our military development," spokesman Lu Kang said.

Mr. Lu Kang suggested that the US should stop publishing unreasonable annual reports on China's military activities to protect the development of bilateral relations and inter-military cooperation between the two countries.

China's Ministry of Defense has also criticized the US report, saying its content distorts China's true strategic goals.

Previously, on August 16, in the annual report, the Pentagon emphasized the speed of military development and warned that in the past 3 years, this force has significantly expanded its scope of operations at sea, rapidly increased its international influence, created a dominant position in the region, and has the ability to attack US and allied targets.
