China angry after 2 US planes landed in Taiwan
China's Foreign Ministry expressed anger on April 2 over the landing of two US F-18 jets in Taiwan the day before.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying stressed: “We strongly oppose this action by the US side. China demands that the US respect China’s “one country” policy and handle this case cautiously and appropriately.”

Previously, Taiwanese media reported that these two F-18 aircraft landed at a military base in the south of the territory on April 1 after encountering mechanical problems.
The two F-18s took off from a US military base in Japan to participate in an exercise in Southeast Asia, said Mark Zimmer, a spokesman for the American Institute in Taiwan.
Pentagon spokeswoman Henrietta Levin said: “The landing of two F-18s in Taiwan was unplanned and entirely due to a technical error. This also shows Taiwan’s goodwill in allowing pilots in difficulty to land here.”
