China expels former Chongqing Party secretary from party, prosecutes him

Former Chongqing Party Secretary Sun Zhengcai was arrested.expelled from the party and his case will be transferred to the prosecution agency for prosecution,Xinhua reported today.
According to the investigation results from July, Mr. Ton was accused ofrevealing party secrets, abusing power, accepting expensive gifts and exchanging power for sex. The former official is also accused of"abandon the party's goals","seriously trampled on the party's political discipline".
Authorities said Mr. Sun had "seriously violated his lifestyle, became degenerate and degraded", and said he was "lazy and passive", "betrayed the trust of the party and the people, caused great damage to companies and had a very bad influence on society".
However, Xinhua did not publish the charges against Mr. Ton.
The former Chongqing party chief was once considered a rising star in Chinese politics, a possible successor to Chinese President Xi Jinping, until he was unexpectedly dismissed in early July.
China's anti-corruption watchdog has criticized Mr Sun and Chongqing authorities for not doing enough to remove the influence of Bo Xilai, the former party chief of Chongqing who was sentenced to life in prison for corruption and abuse of power.
