According to Reuters, Chinese state media reported on September 1 that an explosion occurred, shaking a chemical plant in Shandong province, eastern China.
On its official Weibo microblog, China Radio reported that a loud explosion was heard at a chemical plant in Dongying city just before midnight (August 31).
The station also posted photos of the explosion, which appeared to have occurred in an industrial area far from residential areas. There were no immediate reports of casualties or other details about the explosion.
Last month, an explosion at a chemical plant in another part of Shandong province also killed one person.
The blasts followed a deadly explosion in Tianjin on August 12 that killed at least 145 people and raised concerns about safety standards in China.
