China: Huge explosion at chemical plant in Fujian
More than 400 firefighters and chemical defense forces of the Chinese military arrived at the scene to participate in the rescue work.
At around 7pm (local time) on April 6, a huge explosion occurred at a chemical plant in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, China. All the windows of a residential area about 1km away from the center of the explosion were shattered, and areas 30km away also felt the tremors caused by the explosion.

Immediately after the incident, more than 400 firefighters and chemical defense forces of the Chinese military were mobilized to the scene to participate in rescue work and handle related issues. Police have blocked off the scene and evacuated people from the area.

The exact number of casualties has not yet been announced, however, some witnesses said that dozens of people were injured, many of whom were seriously injured and taken to hospital.
It is known that this is a factory specializing in the production of solvents (P-Xylene), with a capacity of 800,000 tons/year, invested with a capital of more than 13.7 billion Yuan - equivalent to about 2.2 billion USD and put into operation since 2012./.
