China: Father stabs his son at school because he can't go to school

Another shocking knife massacre has just occurred in China.

Xinhua news agency reported on September 1 that a man went on a knife rampage, stabbing eight students and a teacher at a primary school in Shiyan, Hubei province, killing at least three victims.

However, local television reported that six children had died. The perpetrator later committed suicide at the scene.

According to Shiyan TV, the man, surnamed Tran, brought a knife to school because his son was not admitted. His anger made him lose his temper and he started stabbing and slashing frantically.

Shiyan police refused to confirm the information, saying the case was under investigation, AFP reported.

Over the past few years, China has experienced a series of school shootings, including five in 2010 alone that killed 17 people, including 15 students.

In March, a man killed two relatives and stabbed 11 others, including six children, outside a school in Shanghai.

Earlier this summer, police in Qianjing, near Shiyan, also shot dead a suspect who was planning to attack a school, according to Xinhua./.
