China releases book "speaks nonsense" about the Nine-Dash Line

The book published by China presents perverse, illogical and ridiculous arguments to affirm the so-called "sovereignty of the nine-dash line in the East Sea" of this country.

On August 11, Phoenix Electronic Newspaper reported that China has officially released the book "On the history, role and effects of the Nine-dash Line in the South China Sea (the way China calls the East Sea)", to "explain" and reason about the so-called Cow's Tongue Line of this country in the East Sea.

This book was co-edited by Director of the Marine Strategy Development Research Department of the State Oceanic Administration of China, Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea Gao Zhiguo, and Tsinghua University professor of international law and member of the International Law Association Jia Pingping.

This publication argues that the Nine-Dash Line is a border line with two historical meanings - historical ownership and historical interests, and arbitrarily claims that the Nine-Dash Line is proof of the country's sovereignty over the islands and archipelagos in the East Sea, including historical interests in maritime activities such as fishing, navigation, and exploration and exploitation of resources such as minerals on these islands and surrounding sea areas.

The book also brazenly accuses “any attempt to deny or usurp the historical ownership and historical interests that the Nine-Dash Line represents is not only legally wrong, but also politically impossible to implement.”

China once brazenly printed the Nine-Dash Line map on its passports and received strong reactions from the international community.

In an interview with reporters, Cao Chi Quoc revealed that the book has two versions, English and Chinese. He also brazenly boasted that the English version of the book was published in the prestigious international law journal American Journal of International Law, No. 107, March 2013. Cao also brazenly claimed that his publication received support from the media as well as international analysts.

Cao Chi Quoc said arbitrarily that 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Nine-Dash Line and claimed that the book co-authored with Jia Bingbing has the value of summarizing and explaining the "international legal basis" of the "cow tongue line".

He even plotted through his absurd publication to “provide a legal basis to protect China’s rights and interests in the East Sea.”
