China strengthens security on 1,420 km border with North Korea
(Baonghean.vn) - China has stepped up security measures along its border with North Korea, installing more surveillance cameras, deploying additional security forces and setting up radiation detectors to deal with a potential crisis.

The war of words between Washington and Pyongyang has raised concerns in China that a conflict could send millions of North Korean refugees flooding across the 1,420-km border, and that nuclear fallout could hit Chinese towns.
While authorities are keeping details of preparations under wraps, residents have witnessed increased patrols along the border.
Radiation detectors are used in border towns, and locals say contact with North Koreans is discouraged.
On the North Korean side, soldiers monitored from watchtowers and at least one fighter jet was deployed to control the territory.
Experts say the plane, spotted by an AFP reporter, is a Soviet-era Ilyushin Il-28 light bomber.
“North Korea is likely conducting patrol flights along the Yalu River, which is the natural border between China and North Korea,” said Richard Fisher, an expert at the International Assessment and Strategy Center, a US-based research institute.
Relations between China and North Korea have deteriorated, as Beijing supports a series of UN sanctions resolutions against Pyongyang in connection with its successive missile and nuclear tests./.
