China vows to stand firm against US trade threats
A representative of China's Ministry of Commerce warned the United States not to underestimate its determination, confidence and capabilities.
Speaking at a regular press conference, Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng criticized the US tactics for escalating the trade dispute between the two sides: "I want to emphasize that extreme pressure will not threaten China, nor will it drag down the Chinese economy. On the contrary, we will overcome these temporary difficulties and further develop China's economy while ensuring high-quality economic development."

Gao Feng further warned the US not to underestimate China's determination, confidence and capabilities. He reiterated China's stance that equal consultation based on mutual respect is the right approach to resolving trade disputes and the right choice for the healthy development of the Chinese, US and world economies.
It remains unclear when US and Chinese officials will resume trade talks after talks last month ended without results.
