The information was released after the summit between US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington (USA).
The ministry's website said Beijing and Washington reaffirmed their opposition to any form of militancy and agreed to improve bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
“The two sides will aim to strengthen broad-based cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism, including how to deal with foreign terrorists operating across borders, suppress terrorist financing and enhance intelligence exchanges on terrorist threats,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
China says it faces a series of threats from Islamist militants in Xinjiang, where hundreds of people have died in violence in recent years.
Uyghurs in Xinjiang are also fighting with extremist groups in Syria and Iraq after entering the region via Southeast Asia and Turkey./.
