PTI news agency quoted official sources in New Delhi as saying that in a sudden move, India and China on the evening of May 5 jointly withdrew troops from the disputed Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) area in Ladakh, where India accused Chinese soldiers of intruding and setting up camp nearly three weeks ago.
Reports said a group of about 50 Chinese soldiers accompanied by vehicles had intruded 19km deep into Indian territory at DBO on April 15 and set up five camps in the area.

Meanwhile, Indian soldiers also set up tent posts opposite the Chinese forces, just 300 meters apart.
As of May 4, the two sides have held four border commander-level meetings, but have not achieved positive results.
However, at 7:30 p.m. on May 5, both sides withdrew troops from the DBO, and local Indian and Chinese military commanders shook hands before withdrawing troops.
It is not yet clear whether Chinese soldiers will withdraw all to the other side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as requested by India to restore the status quo as before./.
