China and Russia strengthen defense cooperation
On November 18 in Beijing, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang received visiting Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
At the reception, Prime Minister Li Keqiang affirmed that the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between China and Russia is built on the basis of mutual respect, equality and reciprocity.

China is willing to strengthen mutual trust, promote sustained cooperation and enhance exchanges on major international and regional issues for a China-Russia relationship that is conducive to peace, stability and development of the region and the world.
For his part, Minister Shoigu assessed that Russia-China relations play an important global role. Russia hopes to increase exchanges and cooperation with China in all areas, including military cooperation.
On the same day, Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu on strengthening bilateral military cooperation.
According to Mr. Thuong Van Toan, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has made progress, with the two countries regularly exchanging high-level delegations as well as continuing to deepen political trust.
The Chinese and Russian militaries have had practical cooperation in high-level visits, joint exercises and communications.
China is willing to make efforts with Russia to implement the agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries, bring bilateral military relations to a new level, and maintain regional peace and stability.
Russian Defense Minister Shoigu said Moscow highly appreciates the importance of bilateral relations and wishes to strengthen practical cooperation with Beijing on many issues, including military, to contribute to ensuring security and stability in the region./.
