China seriously violates Vietnam's sovereignty in the East Sea
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 13, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department held a conference to announce some contents related to China's brazen placement of the HD 981 drilling rig in Vietnam's continental shelf and exclusive economic zone to the Provincial Party Committee's reporters, Heads of Propaganda Departments of districts, cities, affiliated Party Committees, the Fatherland Front and provincial-level organizations; representatives of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Information and Communications; representatives of the press agencies.
At the conference, the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department updated the developments and reported on some situations surrounding the above incident; our measures to fight on the ground, diplomatic struggles and propaganda work. Press agencies closely followed the ground, diplomatic activities, politics, and public opinion with many news, articles and photos clearly stating the nature of the incident, expressing our viewpoints, attitudes and ways of behaving; encouraging the steadfast and courageous spirit of law enforcement forces at sea; criticizing the wrongdoings of the Chinese side.

The propaganda work clearly stated the viewpoints of our Party and State on resolving disputes in the East Sea, maintaining sovereignty, maintaining a peaceful and friendly environment... China's placement of the HD-981 drilling rig in Vietnam's continental shelf and exclusive economic zone has seriously violated Vietnam's sovereignty and national jurisdiction as stipulated by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, violatingDeclaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC),other relevant agreements between the two countries' senior leaders as well as the agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of maritime issues between Vietnam and China.
The press criticizes China's actions, upholds Vietnam's righteousness; enlists experts, researchers, and prestigious lawyers at home and abroad to write articles and statements supporting Vietnam's stance; closely follows the situation on the ground, diplomatic, political, and public opinion channels, and provides complete, accurate, and oriented information on the contents of activities. Strengthens foreign information and propaganda work; promptly grasps the people's ideological situation, the difficulties, and different opinions of public opinion to have appropriate handling measures.
