China sets new record for gold production
According to Voice of Russia, the China Gold Association said that in 2011, the country set a new record for gold production at 360.96 tons, 5.89% higher than the production in 2010.
In the past 5 years (since 2007), China has always maintained its leading position in the world in terms of production of this precious metal, surpassing even South Africa.

China's major gold-producing provinces include Shandong, Henan, Jiangxi, Fujian and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
In 2011, the amount of gold produced by these localities accounted for nearly 60% of the country's total output./.
