Minh Quan September 16, 2024 15:13

Along with the whole country supporting the people in the flood-hit areas of the North, the Mid-Autumn Festival programs in Nghe An took place economically, without organizing exciting activities like every year, instead there were gifts to share.

Towards the flood area

At the programMid-Autumn Festival The event organized by the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and the Provincial People's Council for the children of officials, civil servants and workers on the evening of September 12 did not have lion dances or exciting performances like previous years. Instead, the children watched films about the consequences of Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3) that people in the northern provinces are suffering from, scenes of people and houses, fields, offices and schools buried in flash floods...

The children then wrote their own words of love on small cards and donated their Mid-Autumn gifts to the children and teenagers in the flood-hit areas of the Northern provinces.

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival program is very meaningful. The above activities have helped children of cadres, civil servants, and employees of the unit learn more about compassion and sharing for the community.

According to Ms. Le Thi Nguyet - Head of the Department of Children and Gender Equality (Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs), this year, the plan to organize a full and warm Mid-Autumn Festival for children has been carefully prepared by all levels of sectors, organizations and schools in the province. However, sharing the losses and pain caused bystorm and floodof the people of the northern provinces and cities, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a directive on organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2024 in the province in accordance with the situation where the whole country is joining hands with the people of the northern provinces to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3.

Accordingly, the organization of Mid-Autumn Festival activities in 2024 must ensure safety, economy, substance, and no ostentation. The Mid-Autumn Festival program and festival will be brief, without organizing artistic activities, singing and dancing, lion-dragon dances, with the main contents: Reading the President's letter to children on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival 2024; giving Mid-Autumn gifts to children in special circumstances, children from poor households, near-poor households, children in ethnic minority areas, remote areas, orphans and children affected by natural disasters, storms and floods. Provincial and district-level agencies will not send delegations to attend the Mid-Autumn Festival at the grassroots level, except for agencies and organizations that come to give gifts to support children in special circumstances at local facilities.

Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, in recent days, most agencies, units, schools, residential areas, etc. have shortened Mid-Autumn Festival programs or switched to gift giving or not organized at all, and the organization's budget has been transferred to support people in areas affected by storms and floods. Many schools have also organized for students to donate to support their peers who are facing difficulties and losses due to storms and floods.

This year, the school and the parents’ association agreed not to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival in the classrooms to save money to support flood victims. During recent class hours, my colleagues and I spent time talking to students about the losses and pain caused by storm No. 3 to the people of the northern provinces and cities, sharing stories about the spirit of “the rich help the poor”, etc., so that students could share the spirit of solidarity and sense of responsibility to the community.

In residential areas, instead of jubilantly preparing gifts and giving out prizes like in previous Mid-Autumn Festivals, many places have agreed to allocate this funding to support people in the North to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

The inter-family groups agreed to organize a small Mid-Autumn Festival for the children, and the remaining money would be donated to support people in the northern provinces. Not only the parents but also the children were happy and agreed with this decision.

Warm love

In the context of the whole country turning to the people in the flood-hit areas of the North, this year's Mid-Autumn Festival may not be sparkling, brilliant with lanterns, or full of excitement and bustle, but for disadvantaged children in the whole province, the full moon season is still meaningful because they have received the care and love of the whole community.

Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the occasions when the whole society shows solidarity and care for children in difficult circumstances. It can be seen that, no matter where, how to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, bustling or quiet, new or traditional, the value of Children's Day, Reunion Day will never change when each person understands, knows how to appreciate love, care, and sharing in the community.
