US Lieutenant General asks Ukraine to recruit women into the army

According to Ria Novosti on January 12, former Commander-in-Chief of the US Army in Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, on January 11 made a suggestion: "In fact, Ukraine has enough manpower to mobilize, but the government has not carried out a good mobilization and recruitment campaign. I think the top priority of the Ukrainian government is to attract young women to the battlefield."

General Hodges noted that women can serve in more positions than are available in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. For example, in most Western militaries, women are recruited to serve in tank, artillery and engineer units.

In addition, according to this general, Ukraine can recruit more new recruits by requesting the extradition back to Ukraine of men who have emigrated abroad.

"I know that there are tens of thousands of young Ukrainians of military age in Germany, Poland, Romania. Why don't they stay in the country? I think this is something the government should pay attention to and make the right decision," General Hodges suggested.

In a related development, the White House National Security Council's strategic communications coordinator, John Kirby, said that the US will stop and can no longer send military aid to Ukraine.

"We have released existing reserves in the last support package for Ukraine. Allocating additional funds to Kiev depends entirely on Congress," said Mr. John Kirby./.
