Center back Bui Hoang Viet Anh: 'The Vietnamese team came to this tournament with a desire to show themselves'
(Baonghean.vn) - Sharing before the January 12 training session of the Vietnamese team, central defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh said that he and his teammates were ready for the opening match against the Japanese team at the 2023 Asian Cup.
Sharing with the media before the training session on January 12, midfielder Viet Anh said: “After a period of training together, the whole team is now very well prepared and ready for the match with Japan. This is a good opportunity for us to compete and learn. We will play our best for this match.”

“As everyone knows, the Japanese players have played in Europe, they have affirmed their position in Asia. It is a very strong opponent, but as I said, in a player's life, there are very few opportunities to play like this, so I think all of us players are eagerly waiting for the match."

The team's goal is to try our best to go as far as possible. Personally, I think I have to try to command my teammates in the defense. How can we all play well together and bring high results to the team. If we talk about the goal against Japan, the whole team aims to play as well as possible. If we are lucky, we can win or draw."

Sharing about the organization of the host country Qatar, the Vietnamese player shared: “In the first days, we also encountered some difficulties due to the time difference. But the weather here is quite similar to Hanoi, very cool so we feel quite comfortable. Regarding food and drinks, the tournament organizers have prepared very well for the Vietnamese team.”

Viet Anh also had compliments for his teammate Nguyen Filip, one of the Vietnamese players participating in the Asian Cup for the first time. Both are playing for the Hanoi Police Club. “To me, Nguyen Filip is a very good goalkeeper. After a period of playing and training together, we have exchanged a lot. I don’t know much English, but thanks to the translators, we now understand each other quite well,” Viet Anh said.
In Group D, coach Philippe Troussier and his team will play their opening match against championship candidate Japan at 2:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. Vietnam time) on January 14, at Al Thumama Stadium.
