Many opportunities for demobilized soldiers.

After two years of military service, in just over two weeks, young soldier Le Duc Truong, currently training at Brigade H83, will be discharged. The journey so far has been truly memorable for this young man born in 2004, a former student of Le Viet Thuat High School (Vinh City).

My years in the military have helped me mature and hone my skills and experience, giving me confidence after leaving the service, even though I know many challenges lie ahead.

Sharing his thoughts on this, Le Duc Truong said: "Two years ago, I was the only one in the entire school who chose to enlist in the army. I also determined that, although the time wouldn't be long, the military environment would be a place for me to train and grow. I'm also very happy because before my discharge, we were able to directly participate in the 'Career Guidance, Vocational Education and Job Placement' event. This is an opportunity for me to have more choices for myself in the future."

After completing his military service, Le Duc Truong decided to choose to work abroad. To ensure his future employment overseas, he visited the booth of...Vocational College No. 4 - Ministry of National DefenceI sought advice on learning to drive. The teachers at the school provided very thorough guidance, and I have applied to study there. Initially, I will focus on learning to drive, as it's a relatively easy job to find domestically. If I go abroad for work, I can convert my license and hopefully have more opportunities to work overseas.

This is a low-cost labor export program for skilled workers, costing only about 40 million VND. Upon registration, trainees will receive basic vocational training in welding or metal cutting. For demobilized soldiers, the training is completely free and they will receive an additional 30,000 VND per day. Previously, in 2024, out of nearly 100 registered trainees, 34 completed the program, were recruited, and are preparing to depart.

Ensuring policies for students

Vocational College No. 4 - Ministry of National Defense is one of 22 participating units."Career counseling, vocational education and job placement for young people completing military service in 2025".

After completing their military service, each soldier is issued a vocational training card. However, not everyone understands the meaning and value that this card can bring to the soldier whose name is written on it. The vocational training card for discharged soldiers, as its name suggests, is a specific policy of the Party, State, and military for those who have completed their military service. The card itself doesn't have a fixed monetary value. However, its value can be implicitly estimated through the value of the courses offered at each vocational training center or school.

Speaking further about current policies for demobilized soldiers, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Thanh Long – Director of the affiliated training facility at Vocational College No. 4 – said: "Upon returning to their families, many young soldiers face new crossroads in their lives. I am very pleased that many demobilized soldiers have chosen vocational training to establish themselves and their careers. This is a very feasible and highly effective option because it provides a sustainable career, stable employment, and long-term income. In addition, vocational training programs have advantages such as a short training period of only 6 to 9 months, benefits from state and military policies, opportunities to improve skills, shorten training time, and the possibility of combining language learning and participating in overseas labor export. During their studies and internships at businesses, they can receive a salary of 7-10 million VND."
