The brave commune police chief caught the robber.
(Baonghean) - In recent days, people in Tang Thanh and Xuan Thanh communes (Yen Thanh) and neighboring areas have been excitedly discussing the action of chasing and catching "dog thieves" at noon on September 15, 2013. Many people praised it, but there were also many who were upset and angry.
At around 12:30 noon on September 15, 2013, Mr. Vu Dinh Can - Head of the Commune Police, Mr. Vu Van Hien - Deputy Police in charge of household registration, and their relatives were having dinner at a friend's house when they received a phone call from a resident reporting that two dog thieves were hanging around hamlets 4 and 5, Tang Thanh commune. Immediately, both of them went down to hamlet 4 (where the incident was reported to have occurred), and saw a large crowd of people shouting: Robbery, robbery! They immediately sped up and chased after the two robbers who were recklessly riding their motorbikes towards Xuan Thanh commune.
When they were about 15 meters away from the two robbers, one of the men sitting behind pulled out a sword and shouted and threatened to slash them. Seeing that the robbers had weapons and determined that they might fight back to escape, Vu Dinh Can immediately pulled out his gun and fired three shots into the air as a warning. At the same time, he called out to the people on both sides of the road to come out to help. When they saw the crowd rushing out to block the front and back, both men threw away the dog skin, abandoned the car and ran in two directions, one into the village, the other into the field. Without delay, Vu Dinh Can caught up with one of the robbers, and with the help of his teammates, he handcuffed the robber.
At that time, more than 400 villagers poured out with sticks, machetes, and rakes to surround the robbers on all four sides. Many people wanted to beat them to death, and brought straw to burn their motorbikes. Seeing that the villagers were so upset, Mr. Vu Dinh Can explained: "Please calm down, let the police work according to the law, don't act rashly." It was with great difficulty that Mr. Can, his teammates, and some neighborhood policemen convinced the villagers to take the robber and the evidence to the headquarters of the People's Committee of Tang Thanh commune.
At the commune People's Committee headquarters, the robber confessed that he had caught dogs in Tang Thanh and Van Thanh communes. When he returned to hamlet 4 of Tang Thanh commune, he was discovered and arrested. The seized items included a motorbike, a sword, a bag containing 3 dogs weighing 38 kg and some dog catching tools.
The working spirit and the brave, responsible, and convincing handling and response of the commune police force and security forces of the hamlets in Tang Thanh at noon on September 15, 2013 made the cadres and people in the communes of Tang Thanh, Xuan Thanh and neighboring areas very impressed and grateful. Until now, many people still recount that if at that time the commune and hamlet police force had not been brave, quick-witted, and determined in handling the situation to chase and arrest the robbers and protect the criminals and evidence, who knows what would have happened.
Meeting Mr. Vu Dinh Can, seeing his right hand still bandaged, he did not mention the wound but only smiled modestly: “Our responsibility is to carry out our duties in accordance with the law at all times. Preventing people from acting rashly in all situations is the duty of the police. Thanks to catching the thief, we were able to exploit and discover some more subjects in the dog theft and consumption ring. It is okay to be a little hurt, but no unfortunate incidents happened, so the security brothers are very happy, because that is how the task was completed, sir.”
Doctor Kham, who directly bandaged the wound of the Commune Police Chief - Vu Dinh Can, said: “Normally, Mr. Can is very gentle, but unexpectedly, when on duty, he was so agile, responsible, and willing to take on the challenge. Tang Thanh is a large area with a large population, adjacent to the town and many communes, and has many people with criminal records residing there. Not only in the incident on September 15, but since taking on the responsibility of Party Committee member and Commune Police Chief, Mr. Can, together with the security force of the commune, has advised the Party Committee and the commune government, been proactive and creative in carrying out his duties, building Tang Thanh into a safe and secure area, recognized as a Victory Unit. Mr. Vu Dinh Can himself is honored as an excellent Party member and Emulation Fighter of the district.”
The Party Committee, People's Committee of Tang Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District Police, and representatives of the Provincial Police Department visited, encouraged, and rewarded Vu Dinh Can and his teammates in the Tang Thanh Commune Police Department. They are truly worthy of being the people's police officers and have well followed Uncle Ho's teachings: "Loyal, devoted, determined, and clever".
