Directly participating in activities to support the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic from the very beginning, Mr. Kidong Park assessed that Vietnam has absorbed and effectively applied international experiences, and at the same time has very creative anti-epidemic methods such as tracing, isolating areas, community COVID-19 teams, supporting treatment for people infected with COVID-19 to prevent them from getting worse, etc.
The Vietnamese Government has responded to the COVID-19 outbreak in a timely, strong and decisive manner with a whole-of-society approach, a robust public health surveillance and emergency response system, dedicated and highly skilled health care workers in both prevention and clinical management, and increased public awareness of proactive prevention measures.
In particular, the success in rapidly implementing the vaccination campaign has made Vietnam one of the countries with the highest vaccination rate in the world. Up to now, the COVID-19 epidemic has been effectively and sustainably controlled. Although vigilance and precautions are still required, Vietnam has moved to a state of flexible and safe adaptation, gradually restoring and developing the socio-economy.
Dr. Kidong Park shared that for the first time after 2 years of the COVID-19 outbreak, he confidently took off his mask when communicating in Vietnam.
