Vinh University of Technical Education, formerly known as the Technical Workers' School, was established in 1960. The school's function is to train vocational teachers at university, college, and vocational levels in the fields of technical technology and economics. At the same time, the school is also a place to organize, manage, and carry out tasks of research and application of science and technology to serve education, training, and social development; to train and foster pedagogical skills for university, college, and vocational secondary school lecturers and vocational teachers; to assess and grant national vocational skills certificates.

Vinh University of Technical Education has a large campus of 50 hectares, with 124 theoretical classrooms, 40 laboratories, 88 practice rooms and modern equipment, meeting the needs of training and scientific research with a reasonable and open structure. The school does not organize college entrance exams, but takes the results of the 2014 university and college entrance exams of candidates who took the entrance exams to Vinh University of Technology and Education and other universities and colleges nationwide according to the common exam of the Ministry of Education and Training for admission, based on the candidates' application documents.
