Heads of Japan-Korea-US delegations meet to discuss progress of 6-party talks
According to Kyodo, on January 22, the Japanese Foreign Ministry announced that the heads of delegations from Japan, South Korea and the United States participating in the six-party talks aimed at ending North Korea's nuclear weapons program will meet on January 28 in Tokyo.
The meeting was attended by Junichi Ihara, director general of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Sung Kim, US Special Representative for North Korea Policy, and Hwang Joon Kook, South Korean Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs.

At the meeting, officials are expected to seek to strengthen cooperation toward reviving long-delayed multilateral nuclear talks that also include China and Russia.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry also said that on the same day it would send Mr. Ihara to Moscow to meet with the head of the Russian six-party negotiation delegation./.
