Bac Yen Thanh High School focuses on moral education for students

(Baonghean) –Standing on the dry and rocky land of Lang Thanh mountainous commune (Yen Thanh district, Nghe An), Bac Yen Thanh High School is striving to grow. From the efforts of the students and the consensus of the parents, the school's Board of Directors has chosen the path of comprehensive education, starting from moral education.

The first solution that the school proposes for students selected to enter the school is to comply with discipline. Compliance starts from small things like having neat hair, dressing cleanly and seriously. The red flag team will be on duty in front of the school gate every morning, if any student violates the rules, they will be warned the first time, they will not violate the rules a second time if they still want to go to school. During class periods, if any class causes disorder, the principal will come to check the students' notebooks. If anyone does not write or does not know what to study, their name will be called in front of the school during the flag salute. In addition to the test and question time at the beginning of class like other schools, the school's rigid schedule also stipulates that once a month on Saturday during the activity time, the class cadres will cross-check the notebooks of the other class in all subjects and through the homeroom teacher, report to the principal; the principal will call the name of any student to compare the results.

For teachers, the board of directors requests and checks the year-end plans of each teacher, professional group and organization. The "expert group" not only checks lesson plans and observes classes periodically, but also conducts surprise inspections of 3-5 teachers every month or checks by professional group or party group. In addition, group and school-wide seminars, from professional to events and life skills, always create comfort for teachers and students to debate and express their thoughts and opinions.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoan (Principal of Bac Yen Thanh High School) said that: those actions are also for the purpose of creating good students, with high discipline, self-learning; each teacher is an example of self-study and creativity, constantly improving expertise, improving teaching skills. After the observed lessons, there are lessons for each teacher and professional group. With those disciplines, it seems to cause stress for students and teachers. However, when implemented seriously, openly and transparently, praising and criticizing the right people, in the right places, that discipline creates motivation for teachers and students to unite and compete in teaching and learning in a more positive and proactive way.

The dedication and enthusiasm of the board of directors, teachers, and the efforts of the students have helped a mountainous school like Bac Yen Thanh achieve results on par with the top schools in the province. The proof is the result of the recent 10th grade entrance exam, the school had a standard score of 28 points, the highest in the district, the province's excellent students in Physics ranked 2nd in the province, Chemistry ranked 3rd, every year over 98% pass the graduation exam, 75% pass the university entrance exam.

Notably, in the 2011 University and College entrance exam, Bac Yen Thanh High School was proud to be the only mountainous school in the province with 7 students scoring 27 points or more and 1 student with difficult circumstances scoring 26 points.
