Nghi Loc 5 High School was established on August 7, 2006 under Decision No. 2834-QD/UBND.VX of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee. In the 2006-2007 school year, the first school year, the whole school had only 20 classes, 900 students, 45 staff, teachers and employees. Up to now, in the 2016-2017 school year, the school has more than 1,500 students.
