(Baonghean.vn) -The Investigation Police of Nghia Dan District Police have just issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Le Van Hung (born in 1982, residing in Nghia Lam Commune, Nghia Dan) for robbery.
Before that, at around 6:30 p.m. on April 30, 2012, a group of tourists from Hanoi led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Khanh (residing in Tan Mai ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) stopped for dinner at Ms. Thom's restaurant on the way to travel (Ho Chi Minh trail section through Lang Lam area, Nghia Lam commune, Nghia Dan district). After finishing dinner, Ms. Khanh paid and stood waiting for everyone in front of the car door, when suddenly a masked young man rushed up and robbed the handbag she was carrying. After a few seconds of being stunned, she shouted for everyone to catch the robber, when it was getting dark, the subject ran into a nearby rubber forest and escaped.
Subject Le Van Hung
Upon receiving the news, the district police arrived at the scene. Ms. Khanh said that her bag contained 22 million VND (contributions from everyone in the group) and a Nokia phone. Now that it was stolen, the group had to return to Hanoi because they had no more money to continue the trip.
Through investigation, the police force found that the subject Le Van Hung (born in 1982), residing in Nghia Lam commune, had a previous conviction for stealing cattle with characteristics similar to those described by the shop owner. In investigating Hung's whereabouts, the police force discovered that the subject was currently in Dien Chau, but when the detectives arrived in Dien Chau, Hung quickly fled to Vinh. By combining professional measures with persuading Hung's family to surrender, on May 2, Le Van Hung voluntarily put his hands in handcuffs.
At the investigation agency, Hung confessed that while drinking beer with his friends at the restaurant, a group of Hanoians came in to eat. Hung discovered that in the group there was a woman carrying a leather bag that he suspected contained a lot of money, so he had the idea of robbing her. Thinking and acting, Hung left the restaurant and hid in the bushes by the roadside to observe. When the woman was off guard, Hung used a mask to cover his face, then rushed out and snatched the bag and ran into a nearby rubber plantation. Hung went home and put 10 million VND in an amplifier, and took the rest with him to Dien Chau to spend. Currently, the evidence of the case has been confiscated by the police, and the entire amount of money has been fully supplemented by Hung's family and handed over to the investigation agency. On May 7, the investigation agency returned the stolen property to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Khanh.
Currently, the police are completing the procedures to handle the subject before the law.
