It is known that this ship is used to provide fuel for illegal fishing vessels in Vietnam's waters.
According to information from Hai Phong Border Guard, in the late afternoon of March 31, at the coordinates 190 44'N 1070 20'E, about 12 nautical miles southwest of the demarcation line of the Gulf of Tonkin, in Bach Long Vi island district, the border guard force discovered a Chinese ship with registration number 13056, captained by Dam Thuy Duong, illegally violating Vietnam's maritime sovereignty. Immediately, Squadron 1 and Squadron 2 pursued and arrested it.
Initially confessing to Vietnamese authorities, the Chinese captain said the ship was carrying more than 100,000 liters of DO oil to serve the fuel supply needs of fishing boats in the area.
During the inspection, Vietnamese border guards discovered that the oil had no origin documents, and both other crew members on the ship did not have professional certificates.
By the night of April 1, all three crew members and the violating vehicle were brought by Hai Phong Border Guard forces to anchor at the mouth of Bach Dang River for further investigation.
