Major General Hoang Dan was born in 1928 in Kim Hoa village, Kim Khe commune, now hamlet 17, Nghi Thuan commune, Nghi Loc district. Since his youth, Mr. Hoang Dan showed his patriotism, love for the people, and hatred for oppression and exploitation. At the age of 17, he enthusiastically participated in revolutionary activities. During nearly 50 years in the army, with many different positions and titles, he always showed himself to be a brave, intelligent, and creative commander. In 1977, Mr. Hoang Dan was awarded the rank of Major General by the President. In 1995, he retired in his hometown. On November 11, 2003, lunar calendar, Major General Hoang Dan passed away after a sudden heart attack.
76 years old, 57 years in the Party, nearly 50 years in the army, wherever he is, whatever he does, he leaves his mark in the hearts of our army and people. In recognition of these contributions, on October 9, 2014, the President decided to posthumously award the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to Major General Hoang Dan. This is the pride of the cadres, people of Nghi Loc and descendants of the Hoang family in Nghi Thuan commune, Nghi Loc.
