Posthumously awarding the title of Meritorious Artist to artist Van Hiep
The President has signed a decision to posthumously award the title of Meritorious Artist to artist Van Hiep.
Ms. Van, daughter of the late artist Van Hiep, said that her family was extremely moved when the government officially awarded her father a title. According to her, if her father were still alive, he would not have stopped contributing because of the title, and his fans would not have stopped loving him because of the title. Even though the title was late, it still pleased those who stayed and reassured those who left.
Previously, on August 2, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a meeting with 8 members, and 8/8 members agreed to consider awarding the title of Meritorious Artist to artist Van Hiep.

Artist Van Hiep graduated from the first class of the School of Theater and Drama (now the University of Theater and Cinema), and was accepted to work at the Vietnam Drama Theater.
Although he was a fairly famous actor in the Vietnam Drama Theater, Van Hiep only became famous when he became a comedian in famous skits such as "Ngheu, So, Oc, Hen". Later, when he moved to the television field, he and two comedians Quang Teo and Giang Coi created a special trio with the scripts "The Chief of the Family is Bored with Rice" and "The Village Chief of Van Hiep".
Having devoted his whole life to art, bringing joy to audiences across the country, but until the end of his life, artist Van Hiep had not been recognized with any noble title. Perhaps, deep down, he did not care about those false titles, and for him, being loved by the audience every time he performed comedy and admired him as a person was the greatest happiness.
During his artistic career, the late artist Van Hiep participated in more than 1,000 stage, television, and radio productions... His daily life was simple and kind, and he was always an example for generations of actors to learn from and follow. He passed away on April 9, 2013, at his home, at the age of 71.
