Posthumously awarding the Medal of Courage to Comrade Nguyen Tai Dung

(Baonghean.vn) - In recognition of his brave and selfless actions in carrying out the task of providing relief to flood victims, the President has decided to posthumously award the Medal of Courage to comrade Nguyen Tai Dung - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade.

The Provincial People's Committee and staff of the Department of Industry and Trade have just held a ceremony to posthumously award the Medal of Courage to comrade Nguyen Tai Dung - former Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Nghe An.

Comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Medal of Courage to relatives of comrade Nguyen Tai Dung.

At the ceremony, comrade Thai Van Hang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, recalled the heroic sacrifice of comrade Nguyen Tai Dung while on duty to rescue people during the flood. On the afternoon of October 1, 2013, heavy rainfall of over 500mm along with the release of floodwater from Vuc Mau reservoir caused the communes and wards of Hoang Mai town and Quynh Luu district to be submerged in water.

As soon as the flood occurred, the Department of Industry and Trade, directly Deputy Director Nguyen Tai Dung, was assigned by the Provincial People's Committee and the Flood and Storm Prevention Command of Nghe An province to lead the delegation to transport emergency flood relief goods to the people of Hoang Mai town.

Relatives, family, friends and colleagues of comrade Nguyen Tai Dung attended the posthumous ceremony.

Despite the dark night, high water, strong currents, and heavy rain, with the spirit of being a role model and a pioneer, comrade Nguyen Tai Dung personally brought instant noodles and drinking water to Hoang Mai town to rescue people at night. While on the way to rescue, the car broke down, comrade Nguyen Tai Dung was swept away by the water, and died while on duty.

In recognition of the merits and brave and selfless actions of comrade Nguyen Tai Dung, on October 17, 2013, the President signed Decision No. 1949/QD-CTN on posthumously awarding the Medal of Bravery to him.

Comrade Thai Van Hang affirmed that with more than 30 years of working in the industry and trade sector, Comrade Nguyen Tai Dung has made positive contributions to the province's innovation and the development of the industry and trade sector. During his leadership, he has made great contributions, contributing to the excellent completion of the state management role of the sector and the goals and targets assigned by the state. His sacrifice is a great loss to the province, the industry and trade sector, his family, relatives, friends and relatives.

After presenting the Medal of Courage to the relatives of comrade Nguyen Tai Dung, all those present observed a moment of silence to commemorate his heroic sacrifice.
