Posthumously awarding the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the late Professor Ta Quang Buu

On the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, on November 17 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training held a ceremony to honor outstanding teachers in the period 2008-2013.

Attending the event were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, representatives of departments, ministries, and 160 outstanding teachers representing 1.2 million teachers nationwide.

Previously, the delegation of outstanding teachers was warmly met and presented with gifts by President Truong Tan Sang. Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training and teachers reported to the President on the outstanding results of teachers in implementing the Party and State's policies on human resource training, innovating teaching methods, caring for students, actively conducting scientific research, improving the quality of education and training, meeting the requirements of integration, industrialization and modernization.

At the ceremony, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the President's decision to posthumously award the Ho Chi Minh Medal to Professor Ta Quang Buu - former Minister of National Defense, former Minister of Universities and Vocational Secondary Schools (the predecessor of today's Ministry of Education and Training), recognizing his great contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, dedicating all his strength, affection and knowledge to building the country's science and education since the country first gained independence when it faced countless difficulties...

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Professor Nguyen Thien Nhan presented the noble Medal to the representative of Professor Ta Quang Buu's family.
