A young man posted many pictures of a group of people strangling a monkey, tying up a baby deer's legs, and shooting wild birds to show off his 'achievements' and is being sought by the authorities.

Ha Tinh Forest Rangers are searching for the owner of a Facebook account named Dien Tai (believed to be from Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh) for posting many pictures of torturing and hunting wild animals and birds.

According to Mr. Hoang Quoc Huan, Head of Ha Tinh Forestry Department, the above animals are rare and strictly prohibited from exploitation for commercial purposes.

Previously, in October 2015, authorities in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, administratively fined 4 people 6 million VND for capturing two ferrets, then posting pictures of them on Facebook before butchering them.

Article 190 of the Penal Code stipulates that anyone who illegally hunts, kills, transports, raises, confines, or trades animals on the list of endangered, precious, or rare species, or illegally trades in body parts or products of such animals, shall be subject to a fine of between fifty million and five hundred million VND, non-custodial reform for up to three years, or imprisonment from six months to three years.

If the crime is organized, takes advantage of one's position and power, uses prohibited hunting equipment, causes particularly serious consequences... then the penalty is imprisonment from two to seven years:

Offenders may also be fined from ten million to one hundred million Dong, banned from holding positions, practicing a profession or doing certain jobs from one to five years.
