Searching for the culprit who set nearly 400 animal traps on Hong Linh mountain
When the rangers removed hundreds of traps made from bicycle brake cables, the trapping group disappeared from Hong Linh Mountain.
On November 12, Mr. Phan Thanh Tung, Head of the Forest Protection and Nature Conservation Department (Ha Tinh Forest Protection Department) said that through inspection, authorities determined that the illegal trapping and hunting of wild animals on Hong Linh mountain in the past time was carried out by 3 people from Ky Anh district residing in Cuong Gian commune (Nghi Xuan district).
According to Mr. Tung, after local forest rangers and forest owners inspected and removed 360 traps of various types, the three men have temporarily stopped setting traps and have not appeared again. Authorities are searching for them.

Ha Tinh Forest Protection Department requested subordinate units to strengthen inspection and review of restaurants and hotels in the area. If any cases of illegal advertising, trading, processing, or trading of wild animals are discovered, a case must be filed and strictly handled.

The Hong Linh mountain range covers an area of 9,707 hectares, divided into three types of forests including natural, protective and production forests. The biodiversity in the forest is relatively high. The forest has 559 species of plants belonging to 466 genera and 105 families.
There are 657 species of animals, 171 families and 47 orders. Some common species are mang (mango), golden monkey, civet, porcupine, mouse, red-whiskered bulbul, magpie, gecko, reticulated python, flower python, cobra... This area is a coastal protection forest so it is home to many migratory birds such as storks, herons, and sedges.
Over the past two weeks, based on information from local residents, Loc Ha District Forest Rangers inspected the protective forest area on Hong Linh Mountain, from Tan Loc Commune to Cuong Gian (Nghi Xuan District), and discovered 360 animal traps made from bicycle brake cables.
"There are stretches of about one kilometer without encountering any traps, but there are areas where every 10 meters you encounter an animal trap. The traps are arranged in clusters of dozens, surrounding the trails where wild animals return," said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Man, Head of the Loc Ha District Forest Protection Department.
