American media surprised by Russia's special thing
According to Bloomberg, in 2023, Russia will set a record for oil drilling indicators, once again proving its ability to withstand sanctions.
“Russia is much more independent in the oil sector than people think,” said Ronald Smith, an analyst at BCS Global Markets. “In 2023, the country drilled an additional 30,000 kilometers of oil to depth, despite a range of sanctions, from import bans and price caps to bans on technology exports. The data shows that these restrictions have largely failed.”

Western oil sanctions come into effect on December 5, 2022: the European Union stops accepting Russian oil transported by sea, the G7 countries, Australia and the EU set a limit on the price of oil transported by sea at $60/barrel.
In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree banning oil supplies to foreign countries from February 1 if contracts directly or indirectly stipulate the use of price ceiling mechanisms.
Putin previously said that the West's policy of containing and weakening Russia was a long-term strategy, but the sanctions have dealt a heavy blow to the entire global economy. According to Putin, the West's main goal is to reduce the lives of millions of people.
